Frequently asked Questions
Question: Can I use these programs to set-up my own online training program. Answer: Yes. Independent NDT training companies can use these programs. Your own personal account is created and you can add students or technicians to your account. Simply buy credits and assign any available program to the student. Question: Is time spent on a program tracked? Answer: Yes. You can review the amount of training time from one day to one year. The information can be downloaded to a spreadsheet. The program will time-out after 10 minutes of inactivity. Question: How do you know a student is reviewing all the chapters and not the same chapter 20 times? Answer: If a student did this just to accumulate time they would never pass a general exam. The instructor can require the student to complete a random quiz for a specific chapter. A certificate can be printed with a level III signature. A random general exam can also be taken before taking the Level IIIs general exam. Competancy based training is more important than time based training. Question: How long will an individual have access to a program? Answer: It will run for 60 days from the the time the program is assigned. Question: Why are online courses more expensive than the flash drives? Answer: Online classes require IT technicians, servers and online maintenance. They still don't cost $1200.00 per class. Question: Who is using online courses? Answer: Companies or Level IIIs who need a more cost effective method to train technicans for initial training or refresher training. Question: Am a certified after taking the online course? Answer: Once you have completed the online portion of a theory course exam, you will need to complete your hands-on practical training with your company or an approved instructor at a training facility. You will also be required to pass the company's general, specific written exam and practical exam. This would be administered by someone with Level III qualifications. Question: What other sources can be used as credit for time? Answer: The recommended training hours as contained in SNT-TC-1A can be fulfilled by completing the following: All time spent taking the course is tracked. The instructor can determine which areas of study are required by the student. The completion of the recommended reading assignments and other self-study materials related to the course subject should be documented by the student. If required, the instructor can establish the reading and self-study materials and approve the documented time spent. The time spent with “hands-on” training should be documented by the instructor. The sum of the times spent completing the online training, self-study, and “hands-on” should be sufficient to satisfy the training recommendations of SNT-TC-1A and CP-189. Where other certification methods are used, the instructor or employer should determine how much credit can be claimed. Question: Can I review a program? Answer: An account can be established linking to a demo program outlining all the training programs available in detail. Fill out a request using the contact form at the bottom of the page.
